Cloudy Bay Chardonnay 2004

!
cbchard
The scent of pink grapefruit and lemon blossom is beautifully counterbalanced by smoky, savoury aromatics, reminiscent of roasted cashews and macadamia nuts.
The palate is rich yet refined with a chalky texture supporting the delicious mineral-like complexity and creaminess derived from traditional winemaking techniques. Gentle fruit handling has produced a tightly structured, elegant wine that will age gracefully over the next six to ten years.

Cape Mentelle Chardonnay 2008

The fruit for this wine is sourced from three sites, with most coming from the McHenry Vineyard, which has a sheltered north-easterly aspect and deep gravel loam soils sloping down to the Margaret River. This low-yielding vineyard provides quality fruit that forms the backbone of the blend.

As befits its regional provenance and fully mature vines, always from the top drawer. The usual winemaking tricks, with barrel fermentation and nine months on lees, result in a potent, complex and powerful wine. A delightful streak of minerally acidity holds the generous nectarine and melon fruit together, the positive oak in balance.
