Lanson NV

Two years ageing in over four miles of cellars, under the Cellar Master's expert eye, provide the essential components for perfect maturation. A brilliant and clear wine, straw coloured with hints of amber. Lively with a fine and persistent bead. The impression is one of vitality and scents of spring mixed with a touch of 'toast' and honey. A palate of ripe fruit and citrus hints creates a wine that is full, fruity and light.

Back on Top: Lanson Black Label Champagne NV  After years out of the Champagne list, this label has been rediscovered and is again a gorgeous drink. With soft bubbles, long biscuit and yeast flavours, it has an ideal clean acid finish. It's a great aperitif. Donna Hay

Lanson Black Label Brut NV,  Flinty, smoky and grilled nut smelling, with cherry pit and marzipan; fruit cake like. Tight and nutty in the mouth, with lemon peel, black cherry and complex Parmesan lees characters. A long, lingering, pithy finish. First class medium bodied Champagne. Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age

Pol Roger NV

Best of the Best - 91 Points - "A superstar and sensational value...The NV Brut is a beautifully balanced mix of citrus, peaches and cream..." Panel of Judges, Australian Gourmet Traveller

"The pick of the non vintage styles in this tasting. The vintage wines tend to be more intense, finer and drier, but this one loses little in comparison with the prestige cuvées. The bready, slightly mushroomy, autolysis characteristics add considerably to the nose, and the palate has excellent acidity and a fine mousse." Lester Jesberg, Winewise (AUS)

"Still proudly family-owned, Pol Roger is one of the champagne names to look out for in the value stakes. Sure, the prices aren't that low, but relative to competitors it is a great buy. This example is a soft, harmoniously put-together champagne with attractive patisserie and bakery spice characters, lovely freshness, great length and finesse." Ralph Kyte-Powell, Uncorked, The Age (AUS), Tuesday,

Piper Heidsieck NV

With its distinctive red label, this has established itself as one of the most reliable champagnes at the lower priced end of the market. Has excellent fine mousse and a complex bouquet of ripe fruit and yeasty brioche, the refined palate tightening the game with fresh apple and ripe citrus fruit, then a pleasingly dry finish. 93 out of 100, James Halliday, Weekend

Mumm NV

French bubbles at their very best. A fresh golden yellow with jade tints, an elegant stream of bubbles rising to form a rich, lively foam. The nose shows aromas of lemon and grapefruit, with notes of white peach, apricot and apple. The palate has complex fresh fruit and caramel flavours. A touch of acidity and remarkable length in the mouth make a consistently delightful finish.

77 wines make up this reference champagne. Well-structured, tonic, elegant and long, Cordon Rouge sums up the spirit, know-how and dynamism of the Mumm champagne house. Pinot Noir (45%), rounded and full, structures this blend with strength and power. Fruitiness, liveliness and a rustic feel are provided by Pinot Meunier (25%). Chardonnay (30%) gives this champagne all its finesse and elegance.

Toasty, yeasty complexity to the nose with some lovely subtle creamy malo notes. Soft, sweetish palate with great flavours and youthfulness. The wine is balanced, well-structured and has character. Rating - * * * * * Winestate Magazine

Billecart Salmon NV

Non-vintage French fizz does not get better than this. This stock has just arrived in the country ensuring these are crisp fresh bubbles further enhancing this great offer (I sound like a car salesman). Seriously, anyone in the market for Champagne, Billecart represents the best value buy. So whilst the Jones's drink Moet and Veuve and the like, treat yourself to this treasure.

Near-clinical winemaking techniques, closer to the New World than traditional Champagne, produce a distinctive but extremely user-friendly wine style. Crystal clear lemon and ripe apple aromas are repeated on the crisp, almost crunchy, palate through to a long, translucent finish. James Halliday

The new packaging emanates from a Paris designer, and has been adopted across the Billecart range. It is a classic example of label change which gives brand managers a bad name. However the wine in the bottle is as good as ever, with perfect balance and poise, offering a seamless mix of ripe apple, brioche and a subliminal hint of honey, followed by a lingering finish.

94 points & Halliday’s Top 100 – The Weekend Australian

Laurent Perrier NV

«Vintage Champagne is the product of a great harvest, Non-Vintage Brut the product of a talented winemaker». With these words Bernard de Nonancourt, the Maison Laurent-Perrier Director, sums up the Laurent-Perrier's Champagne Brut essence. Made from a selection of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes from more than 55 vineyards, and a touch of reserve wine to ensure balance and consistency, this Brut is pale golden coloured with fine bubbles and is packed with wonderfully fresh aromas. Citrus and white fruits dominate with fresh flowers hints. Flavoursome and lingering on

Henri Giraud Esprit Brut NV

The Giraud family have been winemakers in Ay, Champagne, France since the 17th century.

“This may be the finest Champagne house virtually no one has ever heard of.”
Robert Parker

“Claude Giraud makes some of the most unique, individualistic wines in Champagne. All of the wines bear the unmistakable stamp of the Grand Cru vineyards of Ay. The top selections (Code Noir and Fut de Chene) are vinified and aged in oak, which plays an important role in shaping many of the finest wines here. At their best, the Giraud Champagnes offer incredible intensity, class and balance.”
Robert Parker

“This [Brut] is a fabulous non-vintage champagne from Henri Giraud. A very elegant nose with hints of honeysuckle and hazelnut. Firm, precise entry, racy acidity, very well balanced with a lively, almost peppery finish that is imbued with impressive harmony and definition. Wonderful – if only all non-vintage champagnes could be like this.”
Jancis Robinson
