At last but not least!!!
Here comes finally the big Cheval Blanc 2002... The yields are so low that we all wondered if it would come out as future or not.
No doubt it is as elegant as always, fine, structured, vigorous... this wine will need a long cellaring to be enjoyed in the best conditions.
In Cheval Blanc, all vintages are great!

"Extremely concentrated, yet subtle. Aromas of honey and spices, with an intense botrytis nose. Full-bodied, thick and fruity, with orange peel and lemon rind character. Medium sweetness. Balanced, yet thick and backward. Reminds me of the harmonious 1990 -- certainly the best since then. Best after 2008."

This closed, backward blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Franc boasts a saturated purple color along with a reticent but striking bouquet of blackberries, blueberries, truffles, and mocha. In spite of its tightness, aeration reveals scents of licorice, menthol, and saddle leather. Opulent and full-bodied, with low acidity, sweet tannin, and a 60-second finish, it is unquestionably as profound as the 1990 and 1982. I still believe the 2000 has the potential to be the most compelling Cheval Blanc since the mythical 1947 and 1949, but patience is required. It should merit a three digit score in 7-10 years, but it is closed at present. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2030+.

Vine breeding is so precise and the wine making is so talented that even the second wine of château Cheval Blanc is a legend! It gives all the fruit the Cabernet Franc can give with a delicious toasty flavour, it is supple, soft, well-balanced.
A fantastic way to approach Cheval Blanc… at a very good price!
